Few and far between...

That is, my blog posts. There really is only so much to say about a newborn. I mean, there is a lot of eating, sleeping, and crying. Our schedule is horrendous right now because my wonderful husband usually takes the night shift. I think I know why I don't remember very much about this stage with Jonathan. It doesn't last very long in the big scheme of things, lack of sleep means lack of brain power (and probably memory loss), and pretty much you do whatever it takes to survive.

We are in the process of pulling things together for a cook out with several other pastors from the area and their families. It was going to be at our house because you know how difficult it is to get people together in the middle of the summer, and we didn't think we'd get a lot of response. Well, at last count, all but one family confirmed that they are coming, and there were over 40 people. So now we've moved it to our church fellowship hall. It's not a cozy, but I have a feeling that many people at our house wouldn't have been all that cozy either. It will be so fun to actually meet people I have heard so much about and have a chance to get to know their families a little.

In other news, the whole cloth diaper thing is actually going really well so far. It's definitely not as scary as I thought it would be. I have learned that there are a few more things that I'd like to get just for the sake of convenience, and Justin is still using disposables at night. I have to say that this is the longest I have ever seen one pack of disposables last. When he starts to get really low, we do have a couple of daddy-friendly diapers that he can start using. We've had them all along, but they are one-size pocket diapers, and they started out way bulky on such a tiny fellow. They are getting to the point where I think they will work well on him now.

One size means they have snaps to adjust the rise, so they are supposed to fit up to 35 lbs. Since J was always skinny, and he weighed 37 lbs at the doctor yesterday, I think we should be able to make them work until we don't need dipes anymore. I originally picked these up for church. I didn't want to freak anyone in the nursery out too much. I'm thinking I might eventually get a few more because they will work well for night time when you want to make things as quick as possible. Justin sent me a link to a contest at Baby Cheapskate where she is giving away 12 of these diapers. They are Bum Genious diapers. All of these things have fun names, and these come in several different colors. It's a long shot, but somebody's got to win! There seem to be some pretty cool links on her site, too. So it's definitely worth checking out.

  1. Hi there, I just thought I'd say hi and that I too am loving the modern cloth nappy phenomenon. We are using Baby Beehinds, which may be an Aussie brand, and just love them! It's awesome that my husband really loves using them too. A couple of weeks ago we started using reusable wipes (ie facewashers) and that's been great too! Anyway, just thought I would say and that I can totally relate on the cloth nappy loving front! blessings, lou
