It's quiet at My House...

Last week we took an impromptu trip to the Gulf Coast to visit Justin's parents (AKA Grandma and Grandpa) for a few days.  It was nice to be there and to visit some of our favorite places like Lulu's and to see how big our boys' only cousin, Jose, is getting.  Justin and I came home on Friday, but our boys will be staying for several days this week before they will come back to us.

It is most definitely strange for them not to be here with us.  I miss them, but I am also excited about the possibility of getting much accomplished over the next few days.  It is a very rare thing for me to be child-free, so I always forget just how efficient I can be when I can focus on one thing at a time.  I am so glad to have the opportunity to work, uninterrupted, in order to get one step ahead for the beginning of the new school year.

This is what is on my "to do" list for the next few days:

  • Get the house in shape.  There are a few closets and corners that I just never seem to get to, so I hope to tackle organizing and cleaning out some of those.
  • Cook for the freezer.  I really want to get a head start on meals for the next month, and I hope to set aside time for this more often in the future.  It really makes a huge difference for me.
  • Work on school planning and scheduling.  I have this well underway, but I still have some things to get down in writing.
  • Finish pulling together all of my materials for tutoring in our CC community.  This has been a little overwhelming, and I need to pull everything out to see where my gaps are.  We only have 2 weeks left before we start.  Eeeek!

So that's my plan for my quiet house this week.  It's certainly not glamorous, but it will be greatly helpful to me.  I miss my little boys, but I like the feeling of having things pulled together enough to make it worthwhile.

If you found yourself with an unusually quiet house, what sorts of things would you have planned?
